The studio story

From one room to a community.

Nias Nyalada Art Studio was born from a passion for art and a vision to create a vibrant creative hub in Dar es Salaam. Founded in 2016 by artist Nias, it began as a solo practice in a small room at MUHAS, where he created and sold original paintings.

As interest in Nias’s work grew, so did the vision. In 2022 the studio expanded to include more artists, workshops, events, and dedicated studio space.

In 2024, the studio moved to its current home at Mbezi Beach kwa Zena — a larger gallery, dedicated studio space, and a retail area for art supplies. What began as one artist’s dream has evolved into a thriving community of creators and art enthusiasts.

Today the studio stands as a testament to the power of artistic vision and community support. We continue to make art accessible, enjoyable, and meaningful for everyone who walks through our doors.

In their words

What people say about us.

We had the most beautiful experience. I was so happy to have picked this place for the event, shout out to Sisa for providing top notch service and assistance in the paintings. 🖼️ Everyone was so happy, the patience they had with us. I loved everything about it. The paintings up for display spoke for themselves. The Nubian Queen in green was a highlight of the night! I highly recommend it.
